Brian began his career with 25 years of freelance illustration work allowing him to accrue a vast knowledge in a diverse range of skills in various mediums.Watercolour became his chosen path and after some years of experimentation and struggle, his commitment and love of the medium brought him success and recognition with work being shown at The Mall, Bankside and Cork Street Open Exhibition in recent years.Brian's chosen subjects now focus on Architecture and People going about their daily lives.He has written articles for a number of the Instructional Art magazines in the UK. Duet The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition Sept 2011

Brian will be teaching on a Cruise ship in the Med for 14 days in Oct/Nov see Diary 26th Oct'Duet' was recently exhibited in The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition 2011. Shown in The Mall Galleries, The Mall, London SW1Y 5BD from 12th - 18th September 2011.Now Duet has been chosen for extended viewing at Moorgate and then on to another gallery.Brian demonstrated his expertise at The Sunday Times Watercolour Exhibition in the main gallery.Franklins Art Gallery, Haynes, Bedford Part of Brian's portfolio was on display from 15th June.Everyone that came to view them had very nice comments and Brian thanks them all.Patchings Art Competition & Exhibition 2011Two of Brian's paintings, "Mediterranean Street Life" and "Cornish Froth", were accepted at Patchings Art Competition & Exhibition 2011, Patchings Art Centre, Oxton Road, Calverton, Nottingham NG14 6NU See the pictures in the main Gallerywww.patchingsartcentre.co.uk Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours 2011 This exhibition was at The Mall Gallery, London, and featured two of Brian's pieces "Closing In" and "Pilgims, Kerela" which was awarded the Matt Bruce award for most outstanding use of light and colour.The Royal Watercolour Society Open Competition 2011 The Bankside Gallery, London was where Brian's Painting "In Need Of Attention" was awarded a prize by "The Artist".

History

Brian's career started as a freelance illustrator in the London advertising world. In 1995 he moved with his wife and family to Eastbourne, where he established a successful residential painting school focusing on Watercolour. This led to the organisation of painting holidays to a French chateau, Andalucían hacienda, alpine lodges, Tuscan farmhouses and Malaysian islands offering guests the total experience of wonderful locations and fine food in the company of like-minded people.In 2006 the warmth of the Balearic Islands proved irresistible and Menorca became their home for the next four years, whilst returning periodically to the UK for workshops and demonstrations.Brian has also tutored painting holidays to Kerela in India on several occasions, also using his expertise in demonstrating on various cruise ships to the West Indies and Mediterranean.For the last year Brian has been based in Bedfordshire where he was tutoring Residential Painting breaks for Amazing Retreats at their stunning locations around the UK.Now in August 2011 Brian and Chris are taking up posts in the Lake District which, they hope will provide further possibilities for Art courses and a venue for Art breaks in a very picturesque area.
